Vorkath preparation

Vorkath gear: crossbow, Salve amulet and supply checklist

Compare practical Vorkath equipment candidates, choose the correct Salve amulet, and prepare dragonfire protection and spawn-phase supplies.

The starting point

For a first Ranged setup, investigate a rune or dragon crossbow with an anti-dragon shield and an imbued Salve amulet. A dragon hunter crossbow is a specialist upgrade, not an entry requirement. Choose your dragonfire protection and prayer together.

Choose the crossbow before the armour

The Wiki lists rune and dragon crossbows among Vorkath options. The dragon hunter crossbow adds a dragonbane effect; the dragon hunter lance is a separate melee route. Do not compare them on ordinary attack bonuses alone.

A crossbow and anti-dragon shield leave you with a clear equipment plan. Blessed dragonhide is an armour candidate; Void equipment must be considered as its complete required set. Compare the whole configuration rather than mixing isolated Void pieces into an otherwise unrelated setup.

Check the amulet and protection combination

Ranged needs Salve amulet (i) or (ei): an unimbued Salve amulet does not supply its Ranged bonus. The Wiki recommends Protect from Missiles for a crossbow paired with an anti-dragon shield or dragonfire ward, alongside antifire protection. A shieldless weapon changes that protection plan. Salve and Slayer helmet bonuses do not stack; do not count both in a damage comparison.

Prepare venom protection and a way to cast Crumble Undead for the spawn. Dragonfire, venom and the spawn are different problems; solving one does not solve the others. Read the encounter guide before choosing potion quantities.

Make the purchase list after the practice plan

Treat the first few attempts as an equipment audit. Record whether your obstacle was movement, a missed spell, insufficient supplies or slow damage. That information is more useful than immediately replacing another armour slot.

In the planner, compare Ranged equipment costs and lock pieces you want to keep. Its general score does not reproduce dragonbane, Salve interactions or Vorkath’s specials. Use a Vorkath-aware damage calculation before deciding that an expensive weapon is your next purchase.

Before you leave the bank

  • Check Dragon Slayer II access.
  • Bring compatible enchanted bolts and verify both ammunition stacks.
  • Confirm Salve imbuing, antifire, venom protection and Crumble Undead runes.
  • Reserve supplies and a teleport before allocating the equipment budget.

Common questions

Do I need a dragon hunter crossbow to start Vorkath?

No. The Wiki also lists lower-tier crossbows. The specialist weapon is an upgrade to investigate after checking your complete setup, levels and supplies.
