Slayer equipment
Slayer gear: task protection, imbued helmet and upgrade priorities
Build task-appropriate Slayer gear around required protection, helmet imbuing, practical melee candidates and sustainable supply costs.
The starting point
Check the task’s required protection first, then your Slayer helmet or black mask. Imbuing enables the Ranged and Magic task bonuses. Choose offensive or prayer-focused equipment for the actual task instead of saving one universal Slayer set.

Start with equipment you cannot leave behind
Some tasks need special protection or finishing tools. The Slayer equipment list includes items such as a mirror shield, rock hammer and witchwood icon. Check the assigned monster’s requirements before letting a general optimizer replace one of these slots.
A Slayer helmet combines several protective components, but it is not permission to ignore every task-specific item. Make required equipment the first line of your bank checklist, ahead of optional damage upgrades.
Build around the task bonus and combat method
Black mask and Slayer helmet provide their task benefits against an assigned target; the imbued versions also provide Ranged and Magic benefits. Verify that condition before comparing them with an ordinary helmet.
For melee, the Wiki lists an abyssal whip and alternatives alongside armour candidates such as fighter torso and Proselyte. These represent different priorities: investigate offensive equipment when kills are slow, or prayer-focused gear when sustaining protection is the issue.
For an Ancient Magicks task, an ancient staff is an autocast candidate. Do not assume the same Magic accuracy priority for every monster; the Wiki distinguishes low-defence barrage targets from tasks where accuracy matters.
Buy for the tasks you actually keep
Review a few recent assignments before spending. Equipment that helps several tasks you enjoy may be a better personal purchase than a specialist item for a task you normally skip. Keep this separate from claims about maximum experience rates.
Record supply use and whether you needed repeated bank trips. Add cannonballs or spell runes to your operating budget if your chosen method uses them. The worn equipment total does not include those recurring costs.
Save distinct sets for distinct methods. The calculator does not infer your assignment, required protection or task bonus; manually review each result and consult the assigned monster’s guide.
Before you leave the bank
- Confirm the assigned monster and its special equipment.
- Check helmet or mask imbuing for your chosen style.
- Pack task tools, supplies and a return teleport.
- Keep recurring ammunition and rune spending outside the gear budget.
Common questions
Should I use an unimbued Slayer helmet for Ranged or Magic?
The Ranged and Magic task benefits require an imbued helmet or mask. Check the version you own before treating it as a damage upgrade.
