Fight Caves & Jad

Fight Caves gear for a first fire cape

Compare blowpipe and crossbow options for the Fight Caves, balance prayer and defence, and prepare supplies for a first Jad attempt.

The starting point

A toxic blowpipe is a strong all-round candidate if you can use and supply it. A rune crossbow is another starting option and permits a shield. Build for the whole cave: sustained supplies, ranged defence and a manageable Jad plan matter alongside damage.

Choose a weapon for all the waves

The Wiki lists the toxic blowpipe, rune crossbow and other ranged weapons for the Fight Caves. The blowpipe attacks quickly and its special can heal; a crossbow permits a defensive off-hand such as a crystal shield.

Blessed or black dragonhide are armour candidates. The Wiki recommends considering offensive bonuses, Prayer and ranged defence together. If you own a bow of faerdhinen, evaluate it with its crystal armour rather than substituting the bow into an unrelated set.

Treat endurance as an inventory decision

The cave lasts 63 waves, ending with TzTok-Jad. Bring sufficient ammunition and restoration for the entire attempt, not an ordinary short boss trip.

For a brew-based inventory, learn how restores interact with brews before entering. The Wiki describes one restore dose after three brew doses to restore reduced combat stats. Blood spells are an optional healing route, but bring their unlocks, runes and equipment only if you know how you will use them.

Keep the last wave simple

Choose where your prayer, food and weapon controls will be before you start. Rehearse a single deliberate inventory action followed by checking the encounter again. Adding extra weapons because they look impressive can make an unfamiliar layout harder to manage.

Read a full Jad guide for prayer cues and healer handling. This page helps select equipment; it is not a substitute for learning those mechanics. After an attempt, record the wave and reason you stopped so your next change addresses the actual problem.

Use the planner to compare the value of a complete Ranged set. It does not estimate whether your inventory will last all waves or predict whether a particular gear upgrade will secure a fire cape.

Before you leave the bank

  • Check ammunition and any weapon or armour charges.
  • Choose a food and restoration plan you understand.
  • Keep switches limited to equipment you will actually use.
  • Review Jad prayers and healer handling before starting.

Common questions

Is a blowpipe required for a fire cape?

No. Crossbows and other ranged weapons are documented alternatives. Choose a setup you can equip and supply, then learn the wave and Jad mechanics.
