Phantom Muspah gear: Magic switch and prayer-shield preparation
Prepare a Phantom Muspah setup around phase changes, a Magic weapon candidate, and enchanted sapphire bolts for the prayer shield.
The starting point
Plan your regular damage equipment and prayer-shield solution separately. A Magic switch can target the melee form’s weakness; enchanted sapphire bolts provide a dedicated shield-phase option. Do not arrive with a strong main weapon but no plan for the shield.
Give each weapon a clear purpose
The Muspah’s melee form is weaker to Magic and requires movement or freezing. A trident of the seas is one Magic candidate listed in the Wiki’s equipment recommendations; the toxic blowpipe also appears among its Ranged recommendations. These are candidates, not a claim that this pair is optimal for every account.
Write down which weapon you will use in each part of the fight. If adding Magic switches, rehearse them and check the resulting equipment before entering. A switch that repeatedly leaves the wrong weapon equipped is a practical problem no theoretical damage number captures.
Pack a separate answer to the prayer shield
The Wiki describes enchanted sapphire bolts and Smite as ways to drain the shield. Pack a compatible crossbow if your main Ranged weapon cannot fire those bolts. Check the actual ammunition equipped when switching.
The shield phase follows a large shock wave that must be avoided behind a spike. Read the encounter guide for the timing, prayer changes and positioning; buying a shield-phase weapon does not remove those mechanics.
Separate learning costs from upgrade costs
Keep a short note after each attempt: did your main equipment feel inadequate, or did you lose track of a switch, movement or the shield? Try changing one part of the plan at a time so you can tell whether the change helped.
When comparing equipment budgets, reserve room for charges and repeated supplies. Avoid treating a quoted weapon price as the full cost of trying that route. Shared equipment between the two styles should appear only once in your shopping list.
